Book review - On The Table in 30: Baking
On the Table in 30 Minutes - Baking is part of the Love Food range of recipe books from Parragon. It is packed with speedy recipes that mean you can have home baked treats on the table within half an hour. There are all sorts of recipes in the book, from cookies and cupcakes to pastries and desserts, and they are all simple recipes made using everyday ingredients.
Some of the recipes help you to save time by using ready made ingredients, for example decorating a plain store bought cake or icing plain biscuits, but most of the recipes are made from scratch.
My eye was caught by these Mini Chocolate Whoopie Pies. I've not made whoopie pies before but I do like trying something new, and I had all the ingredients in the cupboard so I gave them a go. I was very pleased with how well they turned out!
I must admit that they did take me a few minutes longer than half an hour to bake, but I was hampered by a toddler trying to help and my inadequacies when it comes to using a piping bag, I'm sure that I could improve on this next time!
Next on my list are these Rocky Road Chocolate Muffins, which also look delicious!
This book is a great addition to my recipe book collection, some classic ideas, some with a new twist, and all recipes that I know I'd be able to make easily and without too much fuss.
